Coach design has been around since 1941 and you see women everyone carrying these fabulous bags. Coach was originally named “The Manhattan Leather Bags” by Lillian and Miles Cahn. The designers first made baseball gloves and the company wanted that same look and worked to design handbags with that same quality brown leather with expert craftsmanship.
Bonnie Cashin was hired by Coach in 1962; she created the brass toggle hardware used on Coach bags, as well as the Coach duffle bag. Bonnie Cashin’s motto was to “make things as lightweight as possible, as simple as possible, as punchy as possible, as inexpensive as possible”. Her designs were classic and simple but had joyful colors. Wonderful designs.
Into the 70’s with Coach tomorrow.
