December 8th

December 8th brings so much history that I think you will find fascinating. So many Broadway shows began on this same date, just different years. On this date in 1914 Irving Berlin’s musical “Watch Your Step” was introduced in New York City. Interesting to think about musicals back then, sure to have been classic. In 1930 Cole Porter debuted his musical “The New Yorkers” on Broadway. Then in 1943 “Voice of the Turtle” premiered in New York City by John Van Druten. 1949 brought “On the Town” musical with Gene Kelly, Ann Miller, and Frank Sintra. Wow, I do love Broadway musicals. I took dancing lessons for most of my childhood and love the art of music and dance. The styles, costumes, make-up, and artistic expression was so intriguing to me, still is🩰.

This day in history was also the day John Lennon was killed and which ended the “Beatles”. Oh, so tragic, such a loss of a great soul. The “Beatles” would never have the chance to be again. John Lennon wrote such great music/songs and the “Beatles”, well words never seem enough to describe their artistic musical sounds.

This sure was an intriguing day in musical history!
