So, this is me in the eyes of my grandson Beau; I will treasure this always. He said ‘Gi-Gi’ this is you with your curly hair and you are always smiling. Beau is four and I am so happy that when he sees me or thinks of me, I am smiling and happy. I cannot tell you how much my grandmother meant to me in my life when I was young. Being with her and my grandfather was always my happy place, my safe place, and my best of best places to be. When I was young my parents divorced, it was so terribly hard for me. My life changed so much during that time, so going to my grandparents’ house in the country of West Virginia (yes, I am from West Virginia-more on this later) was always a loving and fun place to forget my sadness. It is so important to me to always be happy, smiling, and love Beau as much as possible and be there for him always. I believe it is important for kids to have true treasures in their life that are not material items, but more like the gift of family, love, happiness, and a safe place to just be a kid.
My grandparents were true entrepreneurs, having a grocery store, an ice cream shop and oh my I can still remember the smells of the Dairy Bar. I would watch I Love Lucy in the back of the shop in my grandfather’s recliner eating ice cream; it truly was some of the best times of my childhood ❤️.
