Rolling Stone Magazine

Have you ever read or looked at the “Rolling Stone Magazine”? The first issue of this magazine was November 9, 1967. The magazine was founded by Jann Wenner and Ralph J. Gleason; they had articles regarding music, political views, and of course any popular arts and humanities. It was considered an unground publication in the beginning and was not particularly embraced by normal communities. Its writings were that of cultural happenings of those times in San Francisco. Wenner was a Berkley drop-out English major/ writer and Gleason was a writer/jazz critic for the San Francisco Chronicle. A magazine of the 60’s that is still active and liked by many today. That first publication featured “John Lennon” of the “Beatles” on the cover. So Awesome!

The summer before the first issue was “The Summer of Love” in San Francisco; loads of rock-n-roll history from that summer – The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, any many more. The magazine captured that era, political views, trends, etc. that appealed to many in the San Francisco area, but it grew quickly to become more than just a local magazine. Today published in New York and still going strong.
