Second Fun Christmas Fact: The Brush Christmas Tree

a child playing near a christmas tree

The first artificial brush Christmas tree, when? The Addis Brush Company, maker of the toilet brush made the first brush Christmas tree with the same equipment and materials used to make their signature toilet brushes in 1930. Many of these earlier trees included the use of feathers. They continued to make these trees every year and received a patent in 1950.

Christmas trees were hard to find during World War II, so the Addis Brush Company made their own trees. Many of these trees were sent to London as well where real trees were not available after the city was bombed.

The bottle neck trees of these earlier years were similar to the design of the artificial trees of today. Artificial trees are still extremely popular today and of course easier for many.

Do you have a real or artificial tree? How do you decorate your tree? Do you have more than one tree? Christmas decorating has become an all-year trend. 🎄
