The Dutch started the idea of making and leaving cookies for Santa. The Dutch would leave food and drinks for St. Nicholas’ on December 6th, which was feast day. St. Nicholas’ would then leave gifts for the children overnight.
Our children now leave cookies, carrots, and milk for Santa. It is a tradition for as long as I can remember. It makes Christmas Eve and night so exciting for the children who are beaming with joy of what Santa might bring them. Dreaming of that special wish or toy.
